Black & White Wednesday

This week a friend of mine asked me to take pictures of her baby son's dedication.
The lighting in our church is horrendous (we meet in a school hall with heavy red velour curtains), requiring high ISO and slow shutter speeds. It also has multicoloured (red, yellow & orange) voiles draped all across the ceiling since the summer ball. It looks lovely and adds atmosphere to the room, which is great for church, but couple those light-casts with that with the fact that JJ is a seriously active little 15 month old ~ my shots all have tonnes of movement blur in them ~ and the mixed skin tones in this family and you have arguably the worst photographers nightmare - both in shot and PP, but I'd said I'd do my best, so I tried!

Thankfully afterwards I managed to take some better ones of him and his sister all dressed up and playing in the cafeteria ~ which has plenty of natural light, but it was unfortunately a bit of a grey day...

On the home-front we have been learning about 'shadows' this week ~ that lent itself nicely to BW shots !

And the sun came out ~ on March 1st, as if it just knew! So school moved outside and we had some fun...
I shot tonnes of pictures, but I'll just share my BWs here :D

And a glimpse of SPRING!!

To join in with BW Wednesday head on over to Lisa's and catch up with us all there :)
