I ♥ Faces - "Head, Shoulders, Knees & Toes… Anything But A Face!”

My entry this week was taken of my girls' hands, once I'd painted and bejeweled them ready for their birthday disco last week (they have birthdays 17 days apart).
I just loved the way it turned out in 'ebony and ivory'!!

Fix-It-Friday #88 ~ Flower Girl

On the weeks when my husband is preaching I am relegated to the laptop. It doesn't have PSE7 or LR3 on it, so I am left to the mercy of the 'freebies', but I still like to give it a go!

Above is my PICNIK edit, below are my GIMP edits.

Edit #2

Edit #3

Edit #4

Edit #5

I hope you like my edits ~ please leave me some feedback :D
Then head on over to Fix-it-Friday to see so many other wonderful renditions of this lovely image :D

Communal Global ~ "Around the World"

This week the competition over at ihearfaces is all about shooting with your mobile phone.
It's not my favourite thing to do, but here are the best of the bunch! They do capture something of life about me though, so for that I like them :D

What have you been about this week, or even TODAY!

I ♥ Faces - "Phone Photo Challenge"

The challenge this week is to shoot with your mobile phone.
That's it, no other rules, except of course there has to be a face! :)
I have an HTC Wildfire. It doesn't take the MOST fantastic photos, but this one definitely came out OK. It was edited in LR3 with Kellie Hatcher's 'deep' preset that I WON this week on Sarah's Facebook page ;D

I don't use my mobile camera very much, but I shot loads this week just for the competition. Here's the set ~ it wasn't easy to choose, but in the end my baby's eyes won me over!

To join in head on over to iheartfaces and link up to your favourite mobile phone shot!

Communal Global ~ "Around the World"

Today (a few days ago) my beautiful, eldest daughter turned 10

The morning was full of smiles and laughter...

Everyone gathered in our room and the opening began...

Cards first...

...then the long awaited DS (not i) ~ can you see how happy she is :D

And then the gaming began on the addictive, irresistible toy!

Even Solomon seemed to enjoy the moment :D

Later she got to go out on her own with Daddy to Costa for a BIG hot chocolate and a BIG cake, followed by a trip to GAME to buy 'Super Scribblenauts' for her new baby!

To join in and share your TODAY (or any day) link up and link over to CommunalGlobal ~ See YOU there!

Fix-It Friday #86 - Sweetheart in the Dark!

This weeks original is beautiful, but under-exposed and Rachel thought the colour was 'off too, so...

I didn't use any presets for either of the above, just my own work :D

Took the above into PSE7 as I wanted to added texture, but while I was there I used the 'Lemon & Honey' action (?Coffeeshop) to both edits ~ and really loved the effect.
Then I applied some Kim Klassen texture,

 lightly and erased from face.

And from #2 with KK 'magic2' texture & a slight noise border fx.

I hope you like what you see.
PLEASE comment ;)

Then head on over to Fix-it-Friday to see some other wonderful work :D

(ps ~ please forgive my inability to remember to turn of my watermark stamp when I send these edits to Flickr! I never see it till it's too late, and I just don't want to have to start the post again! THIS IS NOT MY PICTURE! The original can be found HERE    and is the property of Rachel Durik of Savor Photography).

A Little Project...

Today I got fed up of using my pop-up flash (no alternative on my camera) and putting up with all it's nasty blown-out areas in my shots. I decided to try to make myself a home-made version of a 'light-scoop' (bounce-box) ~ to deflect and reflect, I have white ceilings and fairly light was worth a shot.

So here it is;

And here's what it can do!

(for this one I held the camera upside-down and bounced off his blanket!)

Of course the images still need a little PP as a lot of the flash is lost and the exposures are a little dark (unless I push that ISO way up), but at least they are workable and not all blown out!
