Pumpkin Fun!

So, here she is ~ our biggest, most beautiful, home-grown pumpkin!

Getting ready for her destiny...

Such FUN!!

We don't celebrate Halloween as such, but that doesn't stop us having fun!!

A pumpkin carving session is a perfect opportunity to illustrate & explain to my children how God loves us so much He is willing to get Himself really mucky, cleaning and scraping out all the gunk in our hearts and lives, so that He can put HIS light inside our hearts and make us shine for Him, for all the world to see!

My fave's are the first and last ones ~ I often find that's the way of things with me!

I'm sorry there are no screen shots today ~ I am mid 'baby prep' (5 weeks to go!) and Paul is preparing a sermon on the PC too, so my time is limited. Ask though if you want to know how I did something :D

I ♥ Faces - Breast Cancer Awareness – Pink Photo Contest

I realise there is only part of her face, but this is definitely the pinkest photo I have
(and worth viewing on BLACK)!

To link up this week head on over to iheartfaces.

Macro Monday & Mellow Yellow ~ Frosty Ferns!

So there's not a huge load of yellow in this picture, but enough to catch a glimpse of the morning light. It's an overview of the fern field after Jack-Frost had left his mark today.

Of course close-up the frost is JUST as beautiful :D

PaperMama ~ Black & White

This weeks guest judge:

Charmaine from Just bits & Pieces.

This weeks challengeBlack and White.
The challenge: The challenge will be based around your children. Take or find a photo of your baby (or kid... or puppy... or kitty) in a black and white photo. This week I'm encouraging you to work with photo editing programs. Don't let it stress you out! Just play with it and have fun.

(the above is pasted from PaperMama's blog)

This was SO hard to choose ~ I have a TON of B&W's of my kids ~ there is something about BW that I just love. Maybe it's the simplicity and lack of distraction that comes from colour. It makes you see the picture in a different way. The colour has to come from the story IN the picture ~ the action, the light, the 'essence' of the shot!
I had many shots I could have chosen, quite a few were not 'my' kids but one's I've taken of the children of friend's  ~ I wasn't sure if that was allowed, so I played safe!

I took this one just a couple of weeks ago. I actually really love it ~ hope you do too :) !!

To enter just link up and join in :D

Featured on FlickrFaves!

I entered this photo in the the PaperHeartCamera pool;

And was featured as one of her FlickrFaves on Chelsey's Blog  ~ YEAH!!

I ALSO got an 'honourable mention' for this weeks PaperMama 'Fall' Photo Challenge for this shot;

I couldn't be happier :D!!

FIX-IT-FRIDAY #75 ~ "Autumn Orchard Fun"

Original

This weeks original was sweet, but a bit of a challenge.
Wesley is a touch blurry and the colours are pretty cool (as in chilly).
I felt that as the autumn colours behind were probably nothing like this, it need some warming up.

This week we were also able to download the RAW file, so I thought I'd have a go at comparing edits between JPG & RAW ~ you know, just so I know for the future...

All edits done in LightRoom3 (except the RAW conversion because I don't have the plugin to open the RAW in LR3).

I have to confess to my own surprise at the difference between JPG and RAW.
The RAW was so much easier to take out the noise and sharpen up and the colours definitely seemed to stay truer when I started fiddling.
I don't have a choice just now and for carefully calculated shots I'm not sure JPG will be so different, but I can see that for 'on the fly' shot RAW is much better for making those correction that salvage a photo!

If you can't see any of the histories very well, just click to see them bigger (middle click for a new tab of course) :D
