Fix-It-Friday No.29 - Little Red Headed Beauty
Original. (provided by The Animators Wife - one seriously awesome photographer!)
Edit One
Exp +10, Local Contrast +10, Shadows +4, Highlights +7, Sharpen using unsharp ++, Crop 8x10, rotate to loose the arms, clone out sun on right side of her face and then dodge the shadows all over her face, Bright Eye on iris - lighten ++, then bright eye on whites - lighten just a touch - save.
Edit 2
from edit one - use faded dagherreotype at 30% fade and colour overide at 66%
Soften @35% and faded 74%, erase from mouth, eyes and nose. Frame to match the darkest browns.
Edit 3
You have to try a B&W, but I didn't want to loose her freckles. This is just B&W applied then tweaked with curves. Framed black
Edit 4
Back to edit one - used faded S curve and then applied a faded cross process (easy)!
Edit 5
Again from Edit One - used a 20% faded sepia - how easy is that!!
Edit 6
Last edit (again from edit one) - applied duo tone using a dark reddish brown and the preset yellow. Brightness -38, Contrast 41, faded to 72%. framed to match. :D
Hope you like my edits. Lots of comments please - nice, & critical - either - I don't mind :D
Then make sure to check out what everyone else has done with this awesome shot over at Fix-It-Friday on IHeartFaces.

I think you did a great job! I'm learning too and it was great to see all the variations.
The only thing that pops out is how her green eyes look brown in some of your edits. Can you use a mask to keep them green?? not sure how to do that, but thought it was worth mentioning!
The eyes are one of those screen things I think - the computer I edited them on shows them green - all of them (dark, but definitely green), but my laptop shows them much browner. I often find this between different computer screens and I can't see any way round it.
Do you use gimp for most of your edits? I use pixelmator.. but I have gimp and really just need to start using it more.
Great job getting the sun spots out.
I think I do like when you got the rainbow out of there.. it is really beautiful in it's own right, but at the same time distracting... can't decide if I like it or not.
