You Capture - "Quiet"
Quiet is not a word that is synonymous with my life really. I am not a quiet person and neither are my children ~ none of them ~ not one! I wake up to noise, I listen to my audio Bible each morning half aware of noise beyond the door and invariably interrupted by 'someone' needing something that simply can't wait (although I make them do so!). I read my photography magazine amidst a million voices. I work in the study with the children in and out and all about. It's not until the late evening and into the early hours that I get to hear what 'quiet' sounds like!
I'm not complaining, because in spite of the din I am learning to find quiet spaces. My refuge is often found behind my camera these days ~ it's my excuse/reason to find a quiet moment :D
Tonight I stepped outside for about 5 minutes. The sun was setting. Paul was serving dinner ~ I had to be quick! I looked down at a small bush in my winter-sorry neglected borders. I saw it dancing in the light of the golden sunset. It was bitterly cold outside, but the light was warm and promising. The evening was quiet and still. I took a breath. I took a shot (or two). I headed inside to rejoin the rabble!
Paul knows where to find the quiet moments too ~ he shot this one last week, also on our lane. He likes to play with my camera every now and then! :D This is virtually SOOC ~ I don't edit other people's shots.
Where we live we do truely see some amazing sunrises and sets ~ we are privileged.

We live in a very peaceful and quiet place (even if we ourselves are not the quietest of people) and if you take the time to notice, the mornings are filled with beautiful birdsong, which I am encouraging my children to take time to hear. The hours of darkness are filled with the sounds of owls 'whooping' over the countryside ~ a very awesome sound in the still of night!
I wish I had more pictures of quiet, but my life is not filled with that many! :D
Unlike me, other folks have managed to capture some quiet moments ~ check them out over at Beth's blog :D

Each of these is beautifully alive with light, but the second is the one I fell for. The flare, the selective focus, that teensy bit of spider web...love it.
Oh man, that second one is glorious! Such warm warm sun!
Even in brief moments, you (and your hubby) capture such intense beauty!
You (and your husband!) truly did a fantastic job capturing quiet this week. The second shot is breathtaking and makes me so excited for spring!
